i live with my granddad (Calculus), Martha and a five piece medieval trance band known as The Sulanna Tribe in a commune halfway up a mountain. We squat a run-down château in South State Europa.
The needs of the commune are simple with privacy and liberty prized over material comforts. But those basic freedoms are now under threat. Quite literally for there are plans afoot to suspend a gigantic, digi-ether-al dispersing balloon above our mountain.
We’re going to fight it with WORDS. To defeat this evil, we must raise a henge, a word henge. Josef A makes reality by imposing his thoughts, using words. His words. We change the words. We change reality.
Saying Finn…
… suffices to activate my sense of self, which makes me sound like a cyborg. Having no special abilities, don’t think i can be one, although, given today’s tech, can anybody be certain? The Turing Test long outmoded.
Among my surrogate family, barring outbreaks of mind fever (temper tantrums), i am known simply as Finn or Finny-boy
Finny boy…
… coined by granddad during my infancy, to imply that i needed more care than i was receiving from my parents. Picture the following:
Dirt encrusted toddler (with matted hair) needing to be fed and watered more frequently than their pot plants. They’d half followed the advice of Montaigne’s papa, desiring that an infant ‘be formed by fortune under the laws of the common people and of nature.’ The people part, they skipped.
That i was seldom properly clothed or shod did not trouble their consciences. Spending their days drinking tea in a tipi while embarking on vision quest therapies was, after all, far far more agreeable than preparing meals and changing (non-disposal) nappies.
After i’d spent five years with my biological parents, Calculus could stand their behaviour no more. There was a big family fallout.
The premise of the row can be condensed to two lines:
Calculus: Raising a child is not like having a hobby.
Parents: Well, you bring him up, then.
i stayed while my parents departed – to chill with The Colours, a rival commune situated north of Mount Wilders… on its shadow side.
